25th THESSALONIKI DOCUMENTARY FESTIVAL [2-12/3/2023]
Submissions open for the podcast section of the 25th TDF
The Podcast Section of the 25th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival (2-12/3/2023) is delighted to invite podcasters from Greece and abroad to submit their works.
TIFF was one the first festivals worldwide to include the digital files that have taken the world by storm to its programme. This year, we carry on the collaboration with the Louis Lumière National Superior School and the French Institute of Greece, as participants of both the 63rd Thessaloniki Film Festival and the 25th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival Podcast Sections, in addition to the Best Podcast Award, accompanied by a 2,000-euro cash prize, are eligible to compete for the ENS Louis Lumière – French Institute of Greece Award for Upcoming Audio Documentary Creator. The recipient of the award will have the chance to attend the 6-week Sound Documentary International Summer Programme hosted by ENS Louis Lumière, in France, addressed to young professionals of the audio-visual field (authors of blogs, podcasts or any other audio project).
The Podcast Section is divided into two subsections: the Competition Section and the Out of Competition Section. The podcasts selected will be showcased within the framework of the 25th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, which will be held on March 2-12, 2023.
Both Greek-speaking and English-speaking podcasts are eligible to take part in the Podcast Section.
For a podcast to be admitted to the Podcast Section of the 25th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, it should celebrate its world premiere at the Festival. Moreover, up until the curtain call of the Festival (on March 12, 2023), the submitted podcast must not be uploaded on any platform, public or subscription-based. The podcast submitted, whether an individual work or part of a podcast series) should celebrate its world premiere at the 25th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival.
The Podcast Section of the 25th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival is open to:
The podcasts that will be submitted can incorporate to their narrative interviews, music, sound, or other elements that the creators feel can enhance the aesthetic result.
All podcasts should have a duration of 20 to 30 minutes. The supported files for the podcasts are: MP3, M4A, WAV, MPG, MOV, MP4. The podcast file should not exceed the size of 250 MB.
The Thessaloniki International Film Festival, in collaboration with the École Supérieure Louis Lumière and the French Institute of Greece, offers the prize-scholarship ENS Louis Lumière-French Institute of Greece Award for Young Audio Documentary Creators taking part at the Podcast section of the 63rd Thessaloniki International Film Festival and 25th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival. The winner will have the chance to participate at the Sound Documentary International Summer Programme, an international programme addressed to young professionals of the audiovisual field (authors of blogs, podcasts or any other sound project). The winner of the award – scholarship will have the chance to follow a six-week programme in English that will take place in the summer of 2023 in France -the dates will be announced. The nominees for the Award ENS Louis Lumière – French Institute of Greece must meet the following conditions:
-Aged between 25 – 35 years old
-Permanent residents of Greece
-Fluent in the English language
Eligible for the award – scholarship are creators who participate in the competition and out of competition podcast sections of the 63rd Thessaloniki International Film Festival and the 25th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival.
The nominees of the award – scholarship should fill in a special online application that is available on the Festival’s website and to provide supporting documents.
The award will be announced during the closing ceremony of the 25th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, in March 2023.
