Tale of Shepherds

Historia de pastores

TIFF65: Greek Premiere
In the highlands of Granada, Spain in 2027, a geologist who works as a trainee at the Prehistory and Paleontological Museum of Orce encounters a profoundly hurt shepherd. Their lives intertwine as they explore the story of a homestead that appears and disappears at will. Inexplicable events unsettle the inhabitants of these isolated communities; one such event includes the discovery of a rare rock in the surrounding area - perhaps a meteorite? In his first feature film, Jaime Puertas Castillo synthesizes elements from ancient myths and futuristic insights in order to formulate a poetic, formalistically adventurous meditation on the "obliteration" – or the transformation – of the agricultural and livestock universe, a crucial part of the human experience that has lasted for centuries, yet is now being gradually abandoned in the contemporary world. A hypnotic, genre-defying meeting between the past, present and future in the landscape of dreams, through the lens of an innovative cinematic approach with unparalleled visual style.
