Seventeen-year-old Adi is spending the summer in his village, in a Romanian resort on the Danube Delta, together with his endearing dad, who is knee-deep in debts, his practical stay-at-home mom, who loves him profoundly, and his best friend, Ilinca. He is gay, ready to spread his wings and dive headfirst into the thing we call life. One night, he is spotted kissing with a man and he comes home nearly disfigured from a brutal assault. His parents stop perceiving him as they did, and the seeming tranquility of the village starts to crack. After all, the ones who attacked Adi were the two sons of the wealthiest man in the region, who is willing to write off the father's debt if he drops the lawsuit.
