FUGITIVE PIECES PRESENTATION

 

 

On Saturday, November 17^th, Jeremy Podeswa’s Fugitive Pieces, the first Greek-Canadian co-production which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2007, was screened at the Olympion theatre.

 

Attending the film’s presentation was the President of the Thessaloniki Film Festival, Georges Corraface, who thanked the Canadian embassy for their help and added that as a Greek who lives abroad, he is always touched by co-productions and collaborations that concern Greece, either its history or in a production.

 

During the presentation, producer Takis Veremis presented the film’s actors and contributors to the audience: The young star of the film Robbie Kay, actress Themis Bazaka, composer Nikos Kypourgos and co-producer Panos Papachatzis. Takis Veremis thanked the Canadian embassy for its contribution to the film’s screening at the Festival and said that he was happy and touched by the collaboration between the two countries. Mr. Veremis also thanked Cinegram for its assistance in the production and Audio Visual, which will distribute the film in theatres starting February 17^th. Regarding Fugitive pieces Veremis said that the film was rather demanding to complete and that it had a very moving topic, specifically, Greece under Nazi-rule.

 

The presentation of the film closed with its producer, Panos Papahatzis, who mentioned the lack of state funding for his film and expressed his hope that in the future the government will be more positive towards such efforts.
