EDN - WORKSHOP & PITCHING FORUM OPENING
The EDN - Workshop & Pitching Forum began on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 and will run until Sunday, March 21, 2010. True to their annual international rendezvous, documentary professionals arrived to take part in the EDN - Workshop & Pitching Forum organized by the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival once again, in collaboration with The European Documentary Network (EDN). This event is part of the 12th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival - Images of the 21st Century.
Dimitri Eipides, Artistic Director of the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival opened the EDN - Workshop & Pitching Forum, wishing good luck to the participants. “This Forum is a very important event which has now become an inseparable part of the Documentary Festival. It’s a great pleasure for us to see, after some time, the films which had been helped through this process screen successfully”, Mr. Eipides said.
21 documentary projects from all over the world are participating in this year’s EDN - Workshop & Pitching Forum. Industry professionals are given the opportunity to work in teams, under the guidance of experienced tutors who help them present their work better. Also, the participants have the chance to network and develop collaborations as well as to promote their work to television networks in Greece and abroad and obtain financing from European networks. ERT has instituted the «Doc on Air» award, which is given to the best project at the EDN Pitching Forum and is accompanied by a cash prize of 7,000 Euros. The award is given by Jury decision. The Jury is comprised of specialists who watch the project presentations at the EDN Docs in Thessaloniki Pitching Forum.
It should be noted that on Thursday, March 18, 2010 (15:00 – 17:00, IEK ACME Auditorium), German producer Stefan Kloos will give a Master Class on “Producing and Packaging Documentary Shorts”. Focusing on the German-Czech co-production Breathless, Stefan Kloos will share his experience and knowledge on the development, production and packaging of documentary shorts and will give an insider’s view of the film financing process.
