CURTAIN TO DROP ON THE FESTIVAL’S 53rd EDITION
A modest closing ceremony will drop the curtain on the 53rd edition of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 9 pm. The closing ceremony will take place at the Festval’s historic seat, the Olympion Theater. The closing ceremony will be presented by actress Stefania Goulioti, while musician and singer Iro will provide a music touch to the event with a piano performance.
The screening of Hong Sang-soo’s film In Another Country, starring Isabelle Huppert, will follow the official closing of the event. The film is set in a seaside Korean town, and tells the story of three different women, all named Anne and played by the French actress. Contact with the town’s residents becomes a catalyst on multiple levels: cultural, love and existential. The film is an atmospheric elegy on seclusion and alienation, the fluidity of space and memory and personal relationships.
The film of the closing ceremony is part of the Festival’s “Open Horizons” section, which is one of the Festival’s actions financed by the European Union’s Regional Development Fund for Central Macedonia, 2007-2013.
