Thessaloniki International Film Festival is happy to take part in the Month of European Film 2023, hosted by the European Film Academy. Within the framework of the events, the audience will have the chance to enjoy a series of top-notch European film premieres. The movies The Old Oak by Ken Loach (UK), Fallen Leaves by Aki Kaurismäki (Finland), Afire by Christian Petzold (Germany), Murderess by Eva Nathena (Greece), All Our Fears by Łukasz Gutt and Łukasz Ronduda (Poland) and Green Border by Agnieszka Holland (Poland) are only a handful of the European films scheduled to be screened in our movie theaters.
The Month of European Film celebrates the fascinating diversity and pluralism of European cinema for a period of six weeks. Throughout Europe, in more than 70 cities, from Reykjavík to Athens and from Lisbon to Bucharest, but also in smaller cities, iconic cinemas bring forth European films, showcasing rich programmes, special events and retrospective screenings. The Month of European Film kicked off on November 1st 2023 and does not include a list of joined-up events as every cinema that takes part is curating and hosting its singular programme, with regard to its proper know-how and aiming to meet the preferences of its own audience. The Month of European Film will culminate on December 9th 2023, with the award ceremony of the 36th European Film Awards, which will be held in Berlin. The event is carried out with the support of the EU’s Creative Europe MEDIA programme and with the valuable contribution of Europa Cinemas, CICAE, DAFilms και MUBI.
