AGORA INDUSTRY (November 1-8, 2014) is an industry event offering various networking opportunities for the global film industry in an informal, welcoming and professional atmosphere. As an international meeting and trading event, AGORA INDUSTRY runs parallel to the Thessaloniki International Film Festival and offers to its visiting industry professionals a variety of industry activities:

The Agora Film Market with a Digital Video Library (November 1-8)
The Crossroads Co-Production Forum (November 4-8)
The Agora Works in Progress - Screening of films in post-production (November 6)

All Industry activities focus on the countries of Central Europe, the Balkans and the Mediterranean.

We are celebrating this year the 100 years of Greek Cinema and so special attention has been given to film projects and films under production or post-production from Greece.

CROSSROADS, the Co-Production Forum headed by Marie-Pierre Macia, has selected 13 projects this year, based on the quality of the script, the creative team and the likelihood of it being produced. All selected projects are either produced or co-produced by a country in South-eastern and Central Europe or the Mediterranean area, or contain story elements linked to these regions. The selected projects come from the following countries: Egypt, France, FYROM, Greece, Italy, Lebanon and Romania.

The producers of these 13 projects will be introduced to a variety of industry professionals from all over the world. The program is varied and provides opportunities to meet other producers, distributors, broadcasters, sales agents and consultants. CROSSROADS’ goal is to support the producers of feature-length film projects that are linked to the Mediterranean and Balkan regions in finding the right partners to finance and accomplish their projects.

We are very happy to welcome the new project of seasoned filmmaker George Panoussopoulos to whom Thessaloniki Int’l Film Festival hosted a tribute of his work in 2005 and new work by Dimitris Koutsiabasakos who returns with a feature film after his latest feature film The Guardian’s Son (2006). From the international spectrum Paul Negoescu who was competing in Thessaloniki’s International Competition back in 2012 with A Month in Thailand will present his new project, as well as Ahmad Abdalla who has been selected twice in the International Competition with his films Heliopolis (2009) and Microphone (2010) and Rags & Tatters in Open Horizons (2013). Andrea Segre who won the LUX Prize in 2011 with the film Shun Li and the Poet will also be presenting his new film project. Eight out of thirteen projects are first feature films from Greece and abroad.
