The 23rd Thessaloniki Documentary Festival was carried out in two legs, due to the health and safety measures imposed for the containment of the pandemic. The first leg of the 23rd TDF, the tribute "Destination: Journey", was held online, in March 4-14, 2021. The second leg of the Festival, hosting its main program, took place from June 24 to July 4, 2021, in a hybrid form, both online and in open-air cinemas. Physical screenings were held in seven open-air cinemas of Thessaloniki, as well as in two pop-up cinemas, set up for the needs of the 23rd TDF.
THE AWARDS – International Competition
The Golden Alexander award accompanied by a cash prize of 15,000€ to the documentary:
Magaluf Ghost Town by Miguel Ángel Blanca (Spain, France)
The Special Jury Award accompanied by a cash prize of 5,000€ to the documentary:
Luchadoras by Paola Calvo and Patrick Jasim (Germany, Mexico)
