Code of Conduct

The Thessaloniki Film Festival and AGORA value the importance of bringing people together and cultivating long-term partnerships. In this spirit, the Thessaloniki Film Festival and AGORA are committed to providing an inclusive, respectful and supportive environment that prioritizes mutual respect for all participants, partners and staff. As such, our team is committed to upholding these values and ensuring a safe and inspiring space, where connections can flourish through collaboration and professional growth.
By participating in the Festival and AGORA, all participants, invited guests, accredited guests and staff agree to and abide by the following Code of Conduct:
 

Basic Principles - Professionalism

• The Thessaloniki Film Festival and AGORA celebrate diversity and inclusion and are committed to creating a welcoming environment for all individuals. Offensive language and actions that do not reflect this commitment will not be tolerated.
• Every individual should be treated equally, avoiding stereotypes, prejudices, assumptions and favoritism, promoting equal opportunities for all.
• Physical, emotional and psychological safety is of paramount importance. Behavior that threatens this safety, such as violence, harassment, intimidation or discrimination, will not be tolerated.
• All participants are expected to maintain professionalism in all interactions, using inclusive language that reflects mutual respect, avoiding personal criticism or language that discourages equal participation.
• Respect physical and emotional boundaries, cultural sensitivities, and communication styles.
• Create a space where everyone feels safe to express ideas and collaborate freely, allowing all voices to be heard without interruption or rejection. Respect the confidentiality of sensitive information, when offering feedback, focus on the work, not the person, and aim to encourage growth.
• All participants must provide feedback that is constructive, specific and provided with empathy
   

Violations

The following or similar actions are not tolerated at the Thessaloniki Film Festival and AGORA:

• Hate speech and discrimination: Public incitement to violence, hatred or discrimination against any participant, guest, accredited guest and staff of the Festival and/or AGORA, based on their race, gender, ethnicity, religion, cultural background, sexuality, socioeconomic status, disability or age.
• Offensive language, expressions and behavior: Insults, derogatory jokes, defamation or threats that target any person based on their identity, including but not limited to race, gender, ethnicity, religious beliefs, religion, background, sexuality, socioeconomic status, disability or age.
• Offensive expressions of xenophobia or other ideologies that discriminate, claim superiority or belittle people based on their race, religion, gender, ethnicity, cultural background, sexuality, socioeconomic status, disability or age are not tolerated.
• Harassment in public and/or digital spaces: Public dissemination, production or communication of written or oral derogatory statements about any participant, guest, accredited guest and staff of the Festival and/or AGORA, in public forums or digital platforms (e.g. status, disability or age.
• Physical and verbal assault: Any form of assault, including physical, verbal or emotional aggression, directed at a participant based on their identity or background, which undermines the safe and respectful environment of the Thessaloniki Film Festival and AGORA.
   

Reporting concerns

The Festival has posted on the site: filmfestival.gr: 1. Privacy and personal data protection policy. 2. Policy for the management of named and anonymous reports & complaints (whistle blowing policy). 3. Policy to combat violence and harassment at work.

Reports will be treated confidentially and discreetly and will be investigated promptly and impartially. Violations may result in warnings, revocation of the badge, removal from events, termination of contracts or legal action, depending on the severity of the violation.
