“WE, THE MONSTER” MAIN EXHIBITION

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1 – SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 24
10:00–22:00
MOMus – Experimental Center for the Arts (Warehouse B1, Thessaloniki Port)

The 65th Thessaloniki International Film Festival’s main exhibition is inspired by its central tribute “We, the Monster,” curated by the internationally renowned film critic, writer, and programmer Carlo Chatrian. The Festival commissioned works from two artists, Malvina Panagiotidi and David Sampethai, which will engage in dialogue with each other and will be presented at the MOMus-Experimental Center for the Arts. In the words of the curator, Orestis Andreadakis: “The boundary line between negative and positive monstrosity is indefinable – like a no-man’sland that offers no safety. It is precisely there that the ‘we’ becomes the distinguishing feature that defines the monster as a collective entity and mobilizes a mechanism of ambiguous signs that the visual artists Malvina Panagiotidi and David Sampethai have attempted to collect and classify. The guidelines given to them were not to conform to the evidence of the visible and to leave themselves open to as many conflicting interpretations as possible…”

Curation Orestis Andreadakis Production-Coordination Thanos Stavropoulos, Nikoletta Tsatsou Production Management Danis Kokkinos.

The exhibition “We, the Monster” is organized in collaboration with Momus – Metropolitan Organization of Museums of Visual Arts of Thessaloniki and was made possible with the support of The Breeder and Eleftheria Tseliou Galleries.
