FRANCOPHONE DAY
The 54th Thessaloniki International Film Festival will host on Friday, November 8, 2013, the time-honored Francophone Day, which is co-organized by the Thessaloniki Film Festival, the francophone channel TV5 MONDE, the French Institute of Thessaloniki, the French Institute of Greece and Unifrance.
In the context of the Francophone Day, eight French language films will be screened at the 54th edition of the Festival, including films that are part of this year’s tributes to French filmmakers Alain Guiraudie and Claire Simon. Both filmmakers are currently in Thessaloniki and will present their films to the festival’ s audiences. Their films are:
God’s Offices (8/11, 13.00, Olympion), A Foreign Body (17.00, Pavlos Zannas) and Gare du Nord by Claire Simon (20.15, Olympion), and Stranger by the Lake (23.00, Olympion), Sunshine for the Scoundrels and That Old Dream that Moves (17.00, Tonia Marketaki) by Alain Guiraudie. The following films are also part of the Francophone Day: The Good Life by Jean Denizot (19.45, Pavlos Zannas) and The Strange Color of Your Body’s Tears by Helene Cattet and Bruno Forzani, (15.00, Tonia Marketaki).
The tributes to the work of Alain Guiraudie and Claire Simon, as well as the Open Horizons section of the Festival, are among the Festival’s actions financed by the European Union’s Regional Development Fund for Central Macedonia, 2007-2013.
