TIFF is selected by EURIMAGES to host its Lab Project Award
The Thessaloniki International Film Festival is pleased to announce that it is among the four festivals selected by the EURIMAGES – European Cinema Support Fund to host its new Lab Project Award for unconventional projects. The award amounts up to €50,000 for a film project which participates in the TIFF’s Agora Industry “Work in Progress” section and it will bestowed for the first time during TIFF’s upcoming 57th edition, in November 2016.
The other festivals also selected by EURIMAGES to host this specific award are Les Arcs European Film Festival, the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and the Norwegian International Film Festival Haugesund.
The Lab Project Award will be bestowed at each festival by an international jury of film professionals, art curators and EURIMAGES members to four film projects that are innovative both in terms of production and artistic expression. Filmmakers will have the possibility to complete the shooting and/or post-produce those films which are made and/or produced outside the standard rules of filmmaking, both dramaturgically and/or production-wise. Projects will be chosen on the basis of the material already shot through the “Work in Progress” events hosted by the selected festivals.
The Lab Project Award is the highest one among the EURIMAGES awards bestowed to films in development. Through this award, EURIMAGES wishes to invest in new forms of cinematographic expression, often at the cross-road of other art forms, and actively participate in the renewal of European cinema.
