Christian Mungiu won the Palm d’Or for his second film “4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days”: a journey deep into the inferno of his country, with an exceptional female leading duo. The director has very clear ideas in his mind about the film he wants to make, and he was established early on with his remarkable and multiple award-winning short and middle-length films. He is not only one of the most admirable representatives of the so-called Romanian realism, but also a full-fledged European filmmaker. The book, edited by Dimitris Kerkinos, includes a section with general texts and interviews and his filmography reviewed in detail. The publication is a remarkable introduction to his work.
