The book is a selection of texts, which are partly a republication -with new editing and the addition of unpublished texts- of the content from one of the sold-out special issues of the magazine “Contemporary Cinema” (issue 35, 1983) about the work of the incredible Pier Paolo Pasolini. The main body of the book includes carefully selected texts by the director himself, which showcase and observe the remarkable changes and transformations without losing its focus, which connects this contradictory but also enigmatic work. The main guide for this journey is the important text on understanding his work, the “Cinema of Poetry”, in which Pasolini talks about the world while talking about himself. There are also exceptional texts by Roland Barthes, Nikos Kolovos, Christos Bakalopoulos and Yorgos Bramos included. The publication closes with a detailed bio-filmography by Michel Demopoulos and Achilleas Kyriakidis, and a carefully selected bibliography on the Italian filmmaker.
