Carol Reed, with three consecutive masterpieces in three years, (Odd Man Out, 1947, The Fallen Idol, 1948, The Third Man, 1949) led the British cinema to the top of Europe. The publication opens with a series of general texts by Dimitris Kerkinos, Andrew Sarris, David Thomson, Yannick Lemarié, Philip Kemp etc. Following are the 15 (of the 31 he directed in total) films of the tribute, reviewed by Greek and international film critics. We also find texts by his collaborator Graham Greene, in the role of film critic for the magazine The Spectator, and Roman Polanski stating that “the film which had probably the biggest influence in my life -I was around 16 at that point- was the Odd Man Out, which I watched in Krakow…”. An essential monograph exceptionally illustrated.
