Fernando Trueba's new film, They Shot the Piano Player, will signal the kick-off of the 26th TiDF. The renowned director will attend the opening ceremony and will be bestowed with the Golden Alexander. The 26th TiDF will also host a Spotlight on the work of the Spanish filmmaker.

AGORA (March 8-16), the industry section of the Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival, has selected for the Thessaloniki Pitching Forum 12 projects from 11 countries and for the AGORA Docs in Progress 11 films from 16 countries, all deriving from Southeastern Europe and the Mediterranean region.
Astonishing documentaries by some of cinema’s greatest filmmakers, such as Steve McQueen, and Frederick Wiseman, as well as illuminating stories featuring notable figures from the art, music, and fashion fields, for example Patricia Field, Édouard Louis, Dario Argento, Anita Pallenberg are coming to the 26th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival (March 7-17, 2024).
The 26th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival is delighted to welcome the internationally acclaimed artist (director, choreographer, visual artist and performer) Dimitris Papaioannou, shedding light on the multifarious aspects of an artist through different forms of art and expression, redefining the boundaries of representation, the allegorical power of images and the communication between a work of art and the audience.
