The 65th TIFF welcomed two of most prolific stars of contemporary cinema, radiant Juliette Binoche and gifted Ralph Fiennes, on Friday, November 1st, at Olympion theater. The two renowned actors received the Festival’s honorary Golden Alexander award prior to the screening of the monumental film The English Patient (1996). On Saturday, November 2nd, the audience of the 65th TIFF will have the opportunity to enjoy the new film starring Juliette Binoche and Ralph Fiennes, The Return, in a screening attended by both the film's stars as well as director, Uberto Pasolini.

Matt Dillon, one of the most iconic figures of contemporary American cinema, will also honor the 65th TIFF with a threefold presence. Matt Dillon will present his latest film Being Maria by Jessica Palud, where he portrays Marlon Brando, and will receive the Festival honorary Golden Alexander before the special screening of his directorial debut, City of Ghosts. Moreover, he will join the versatile Danish artist Jesper Just in the official opening of the visual installation Interfears, where he also stars.

On Tuesday November 5th, the night of the American presidential election, the shattering documentary Homegrown by Michael Premo will be screened at 8.30pm at Tonia Marketaki theater. The screening will be followed by a discussion featuring Nicolas Sevastakis, Professor at AUTh’s School of Political Sciences, the Festival’s artistic director Orestis Andreadakis, and writer, journalist and head of the Journalists' Union of Macedonia and Thrace Daily Newspapers Yannis Kotsifos.
