As part of the Agora of the 24th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, the event “Kickstarter for Documentary Film” was carried out on Wednesday, March 16th, in Warehouse C, at the Thessaloniki Port. The event aimed at informing the audience about the potential and the best practices of funding a documentary by creating a crowdfunding campaign on the popular Kickstarter platform. The main speaker, was the Head of Film, Publications and Arts of Kickstarter in Europe, Evita Tsokanta.

Agora Lab, the Agora Docs initiative that boosts films that are in the post-production stage, was carried out on Wednesday, March 16th, at the Takis Kanellopoulos hall of the Thessaloniki Film Museum, within the context of the 24th TDF, offering guidance and advice by experts. The candidate projects are Greek and the selection is made via the Docs in Progress submissions of the Greek films. One project will be awarded the Guidance Award by Paradiddle Pictures (Denmark).

The Agora Docs Masterclass “Order in Chaos”, delivered by Niels Pagh Andersen, was carried out on Wednesday, March 16th, in Stavros Tornes theater. On the occasion of the release of his new book, titled Order in Chaos - Storytelling and Editing in Documentary Films, the internationally renowned Danish editor Niels Pagh Andersen shares his methods and experiences, accumulated over the course of his long career. From 1979, he has edited more than 250 fiction films and documentaries, such as The Act of Killing and The Look of Silence (both Oscar-nominated). Andersen teaches at various professional labs and film schools around the world.

As part of the 24th TDF Agora Docs, the presentation of the section Meet the Future took place on Tuesday, March 15th in Warehouse C. Meet the Future is an initiative aiming at showcasing and promoting the work of emerging talent from our greater geographical region. In this year’s edition, five up-and-coming women documentary filmmakers from Georgia had the opportunity to promote their work via the screening of short clips and shots. The filmmakers that participated in the presentation were: Tamta Gabrichidze, Ketevani Kapanadze, Elena Mikaberidze, Shorena Tevzadze and Maradia Tsaava. The talk was coordinated by producer Rea Apostolides. During the event, a 2-minute extract from each project was screened.
