The “Meet the Neighbors+” competition section includes first or second films from the 36 countries of South-Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. At the same time, in 2023, the section’s Golden Alexander was renamed into “Golden Alexander - Michel Demopoulos”, honoring the memory of the former Festival director (1991-2005) who led the institution to gain an international scope.

The presentation of the projects in the Crossroads Co-Production Forum of the 65th TIFF Agora took place on Monday, November 4th, at Frida Liappa theatre. At this year's 20th anniversary edition of the Crossroads Co-Production Forum, 15 promising film projects from 17 countries of Southeast Europe and the Mediterranean were selected.

Matt Dillon was bestowed with the Festival’s honorary Golden Alexander award on Monday November 4th, at Olympion, prior to the screening of the film City of Ghosts (2002). Amidst a deafening ovation from the crowd, the multifarious and beloved actor received the Golden Alexander Award from legendary Greek actress and member of the TIFF’s Board of Directors, Themis Bazaka.
