Internationally acclaimed editor Yorgos Mavropsaridis, regular partner of Yorgos Lanthimos and Oscar nominee for his work in the film The Favourite, delivered a masterclass at Pavlos Zannas theatre, on Friday November 12. In his masterclass, titled “The Brain is the Screen”, Yorgos Mavropsaridis analysed the way in which editing encodes the narrative and communicates its messages to the viewer. Orestis Andreadakis, the artistic director of TIFF, raised the curtain of the event, welcoming both the audience and Yorgos Mavropsaridis, hailing the latter as “one of the best editors worldwide”.

Within the framework of the Agora Talks of the 62nd Thessaloniki International Film Festival, an online discussion was held on Thursday November 11, bearing the title “Funding Opportunities with European Regional Funds, Lazio Roma Film Commission & Région Sud - Provence - Alpes - Côte D’ Azur”. The speakers were Tina Bianchi, Marketing & Co-production Development, Lazio Roma Film Commission and Charlotte Le Bos Schneegans, Diffusion and Production Project Manager, Région Sud - Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur in France, while Mrs. Angeliki Vergou was the coordinator of the discussion.

Within the framework of the 62nd TIFF’s, the seminar S2M (Story2Market) was held on Wednesday 10 November, at Warehouse C, focusing on the topic “Introduction to film marketing from development”. S2M is a new workshop for professionals of the audiovisual field, starting in 2022, organized by Aegean MEDIANET, in collaboration with Thessaloniki Film Festival and the Aegean University. The panel included Stephen Cleary, Development Consultant and Director of Studies - S2M (UK), Vicky Miha, Film marketing Consultant and producer, Asterisk* (Greece) and Mathias Noschis, Film marketing strategy designer and founder of AlphaPanda (Germany).

On Thursday November 11, at the movie theater Makedonikon, the screening of the film Alleluia by Fabrice du Welz took place, within the framework of the carte blanche given by the Festival of Thessaloniki to the renowned editor Lambis Haralambidis, one of the distinguished guests of the 62nd TIFF’s tribute “In the Cut: Editing and its Secrets”. Lambis Haralambidis attended the screening, briefly explaining to the audience the reasons behind his carte blanche choice.
