The Thessaloniki International Film Festival has taken on a global initiative for the protection of films and festivals in the new digital times, starting a plea for using geoblocking technology in online film festivals. The plea has already been signed by 18 big film festivals from all over the world.
The Thessaloniki International Film Festival has already begun planning for its 61st edition. The Festival’s team is in constant collaboration with the medical authorities, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the City of Thessaloniki and the Region of Central Macedonia, monitors the COVID-19 situation and is preparing for three scenarios.
We have the pleasure to announce the 5 Greek films (Works in Progress) that will participate in this year’s edition of the “Thessaloniki Goes to Cannes” event which will take place online on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, during the Marché du Film of Festival de Cannes (June 22-26, 2020).

With 82,686 free tickets and 167 sold out screenings, the online 22nd Thessaloniki Documentary Festival successfully completed its virtual version on May 28, 2020.
With great pleasure, the online 22nd Thessaloniki Documentary Festival announces its awards and thanks the audience for the remarkable participation. Until the 8th day of the festival, 72,000 free tickets were given and 113 documentaries were sold out. The Festival runs until May 28.
